The rate is filled in from our latest 22K world price of ₹1,13,049 per 10 Grams, dated 6 Nov 2026. Indian shops charge more than a world price, so change it to the rate your jeweller quotes.

How this calculator works

The calculator adds up the three lines found on most jewellery bills:

  1. Gold value = weight x rate per gram for that purity.
  2. Making charges = gold value x making charge percentage.
  3. GST = (gold value + making charges) x GST percentage.

Change the percentages to match your quote. Some shops charge making per gram or list a separate wastage line. Convert those to a percentage of the gold value for a like-for-like comparison.

Example

With round numbers, a 10 gram piece at Rs 9,000 per gram has a gold value of Rs 90,000. Making charges of 10% add Rs 9,000, making Rs 99,000. GST of 3% adds Rs 2,970, for a total of Rs 1,01,970.

Before you buy

  • Check the hallmark and HUID on the piece. Our guide to 22K vs 24K gold explains how.
  • Ask for stones to be weighed and charged separately from gold.
  • Ask what will be deducted if you sell or exchange the piece later.
